Yahoo! Announces Open Search Platform

Published by Christian | Filed under Search Engines

Saw this and thought it was pretty interesting - Yahoo! has announced that they’re going to be allowing others to “enhance” their search engine result pages. From the looks of it, no you can’t rearrange all of the search engine results so that they all point to your site for any given keyword phrase search… but what it does allow you to do is modify a listing to include deeper level links, more data and images. Simply put (and what has been really a vocal point at SMX West today), search results are getting away from the drab white display with ten results to more of a feature-rich look with images, videos, blog results and so forth. Yahoo! has really taken the first step here for users to have the ability to change the way their result can look.

More info about this can be seen here. Interesting stuff!  Also, you can see even more about this over at the official Yahoo! Search Blog.
