Google Can’t Get No …. (Customer) Satisfaction (This Year)
Published by Christian | Filed under Search Industry, Search Engines
For the first time ever, Yahoo has beat out Google in the University of Michigan’s annual American Customer Satisfaction Index report by a whopping 1% margin. Google’s customer satisfaction score was 78 / 100 which marked it’s second consecutive yearly decline. Yahoo propelled ahead and scored a 79 / 100; just enough to eek out a small victory.
Ask.com had the largest increase in customer satisfaction this year, scoring a 75 / 100. Did the start-page redesign play a hand in this bump? AOL.com declined the most with a 9% drop… probably due to the dial-up folks realizing there are other websites out there than their AOL browser start-page when they got hooked up with a new cable or DSL internet connection
Google - go ahead and hand over the customer satisfaction crown to Yahoo… at least this year.

On a personal note - I actually like using Yahoo a lot more than I do Google. Call me crazy, but it’s true. However, I use Google much more frequently than I do Yahoo. I have yet to even bother with Ask since they’ve redesigned, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I like the fact that the underdog is working hard to defend their turf.

I agree with Ben. I think Yahoo has a more eye catching interface & I have it set as my homepage. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty, I prefer to use Google hands down.
I’ve tried using Ask as an alternative to Google (their new interface rocks) and I admit…old habits are hard to break. I’m hooked on Google.
