Pick Your Domain Name Extension Wisely
Published by Christian | Filed under PPC, SEM / E-marketing
U.S. News has an interesting story about domain names & which ones were found the “most dangerous.”
The stat that popped out for me was how the worst places to download were .biz, .ws & .bg sites. They report that you have at least a 1 in 10 chance of downloading some malware or malicious spyware from a site with that extension.
That being said, .com domains have a six percent chance of being “risky.” So whenever you’re visiting a site or choosing to download something from a site, make sure it’s credible. Norton Antivirus has an application that scans websites & determines if they’re safe or not. If you don’t have Norton, perhaps “google” the website address or company name & investigate whether there have been claims of maliciousness before downloading anything.
